The creative director of the Mugler fashion house, Casey Cadwallader, had been hatching the idea of releasing a shoe collection for six years. Finally, the collection of women's shoes, boots and mules with heels “The Fang” was born and has already gone on sale, writes Footwearnews.com.
Created in Italy, this range of shoes features a distinctive element - the sculpted "Fang" heel in chromed metal, reminiscent of a slightly flared, pointed and angular stiletto heel. The shoes are presented with heels in two heights - 95 mm and 55 mm. All models have a pointed toe.
The collection includes the fashion house's signature pumps made of translucent mesh, ankle- and knee-length boots, and sandals with a chrome-plated metal plate with a pointed toe and buckles.
The sandals, mules and ankle boots come in black calfleather, metallic chrome and classic blue denim, while mesh pairs come in three color tones.
In 2022, Mugler released a collaboration with Jimmy Choo. And this joint shoe collection prompted Cadwallader to create his own.
Looking ahead, the designer said he will be adding more shoe silhouettes to the brand's future collections and will expand the shoe line to include shoes for men. “On the women's side, we're working on low-heeled styles, which I'm really excited about,” he said. “I think it makes sense for us to start with higher heels and then add flats and smaller heels. Ultimately, the line will be expanded by adding a category of men's shoes. I think there is still a lot we can do because we are still very young in this area.”
Cadwallader also noted that sneakers aren't likely to be an addition to the mix—at least not anytime soon. The designer believes that Mugler shoes should be sexy. “I think a lot of women and men want sexy shoes,” he said. “So we just go for it.”
Mugler's new Fang Heel collection, which retails from $755 to $1850, is available now on fashion.mugler.com and at specialty retailers worldwide.
