Fashion house Balenciaga debuted the 10XL sneaker during its fall 2024 runway show in Los Angeles back in December. At the time of the show, the first two color schemes of the new model were available for pre-order, which surprised with its deliberately elongated, upturned nose. The new release features the 10XL in men's and women's sizes, as well as white/grey/black, grey/yellow and grey/pink/black.
According to the French luxury fashion house, the new 10XL sneakers continue the brand's exploration of exaggerated and extreme silhouettes. But despite their size, oversized sneakers are lightweight. The Balenciaga 10XL features a distressed look and features a sporty "B" logo on the upper (first seen on the Cargo sneaker from the brand's spring 2024 collection).
The sole of the shoe is taken from another model of the brand's sneakers - Bouncer, it is distinguished by a small detail on the back, reminiscent of a tire tread.
The 10XL sneakers are the latest viral footwear release from Balenciaga creative director Demna. At the company's last winter 2024 show, Balenciaga presented the Supersoft Derby as well as the Pasadena loafer. Both models had an elongated shape with a pointed, upturned nose. In the case of a sports shoe silhouette, this shape looks especially unusual.
Although exaggerated shapes in sports shoes are nothing new for Balenciaga. Suffice it to recall the release last September of an updated model of sneakers with an elastic upper. Sock Shoe 3XL, a model who helped cement the name of Demna Gvasalia in fashion in 2016.
By the way, the brand's latest collection featured other unusual models - mules, called Louis XV, with a pointed toe and a soft bow made of ribbons, and boots with convex shapes and an accent wide toe, Stomper.
The 10XL sneakers retail for $1300.
