St. Petersburg footwear brand ANKI Team has released sneakers in collaboration with SIBUR.
Local footwear brand ANKI Team released a sneaker collection in collaboration with Kazan-based Russian petrochemical holding SIBUR. For the footwear brand, the collaboration marks the launch of a series of sneakers dedicated to Russian cities. The first project is dedicated to Kazan. For SIBUR, the collaboration with ANKI Team marks its first collaboration with Russian brands to create signature corporate merchandise.
"For us, ANKI sneakers are more than just merch. In this project, we combine fashion, the urban environment, and industrial context in a single product," commented Nikolay Fedotov, Head of HR Brand and Digital Communications at SIBUR. "We want to show young people modern industry from an unexpected perspective—through a truly Russian, everyday product. This vibrant collection draws attention not only with its form but also with its content—we communicate technology through the language of design and demonstrate that behind everyday things lie complex engineering solutions and the work of thousands of specialists."
The sneaker design was chosen in a competition held by Enter, an online publication covering Kazan's urban cultural life. Of over 70 design concepts submitted, the winning entry was Varvara Obshivalkina, a Kazan native now living in Sergiev Posad.
The upper of the sneakers is adorned with an illustration of the architectural symbols of the capital of Tatarstan and the words "Kazan" and "Sibur." The insole features the Kazanka River and the Millennium Bridge, and the box features the Kazan Kremlin.
For the collection, the ANKI Team selected a barefoot shoe design that respects the natural mechanics of foot movement. The shoes are made in Russia using domestic materials.
As the collaboration's press release emphasizes, the sneakers' molded thermoplastic polyurethane soles are based on polymer solutions developed by Kazan petrochemical holding company SIBUR for the footwear industry.
Pre-orders for the limited-edition sneaker collection are available starting September 15 on the brand's website and in SIBUR's online store.
