Global footwear production will remain virtually flat in 2025

In 2025, global footwear production will remain virtually unchanged, registering a slight increase of 0,1% to 24,6 billion pairs, according to data published in the analytical bulletin "World Footwear Yearbook 2026" by the Portuguese Footwear Manufacturers Association APICCAPS.

Analysts estimate that global footwear production will reach 24,5 billion pairs in 2024. The industry continues to be concentrated in Asia, accounting for 88,7% of global production. China maintains its clear lead, producing 13,7 billion pairs (55,6% of the global total). India strengthened its position in second place with 3 billion pairs (12,2%), and Vietnam increased production to 1,7 billion pairs, accounting for 6,7% of the global total. Outside Asia, Brazil (3,4%) and Mexico (0,9%) are the only countries in the top ten global producers.
